Paying it Forward vs. Rewarding Reputation: a winning article

Wayne Baker’s research paper, “Paying it Forward vs. Rewarding Reputation: Mechanisms of Generalized Reciprocity,” won this year’s Outstanding Published Article Award from the American Sociological Association’s Section of Altruism, Morality, and Social Solidarity.  The paper, published in Organization Science, studied the motivations of reciprocity at work.  Organization Science is a bimonthly peer-reviewed academic journal published by the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences.

 This paper examined social reciprocity in the workplace by applying the program that is now the Give & Get app from Give and Take, Inc.  Wayne Baker, Ph.D. is a Professor at the Ross Business School, University of Michigan.
